CLIENT OVERVIEW

Oculus Venues (now named Meta Horizon Worlds) signaled the continued evolution of the modern music experience by letting fans put on their headsets and meet their friends and other fans at an immersive VR venue as they get exclusive access to live performances of new music and more.

Oculus Venues turned to QP for help with two overlapping needs. First, Venues is intended as a public space, and Oculus was interested in developing a program to keep this a safe and respectful experience for the users, while protecting the privacy of the Facebook User Accounts associated with the Oculus hardware. To meet this need, we were brought in to help design the community guidelines that would allow anyone to safely and enjoyable experience in the VR environment.

Secondly, Oculus Venues allows a large number of users to concurrently watch an assortment of content together in VR. Oculus Venues needed help engaging fans directly and bringing them onto the platform, and with the trust established from QP’s community guideline work, they turned to us again for our expertise in leveraging creators to draw in fans.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Oculus Venues creates shared VR experiences and asked for QP’s help in designing its community guidelines and bringing fans into shows.

Oculus Venues allowed for a large number of users to concurrently watch an assortment of content together in VR. Venues was always intended as a public space, and Oculus sought QP's help in developing a program to keep this a safe and respectful experience for the users, while protecting the privacy of the user accounts associated with the Oculus hardware.

Live VR events bring an assortment of challenges when managing a large number of users in real-time. QP first provided an assessment of the platform and launch plan, followed by the recommendation and delivery of an operational infrastructure plan. QP then guided the Venues team through the first series of events, handing off the operational ownership at the end of the contract term. The foundation laid by this plan has largely helped Oculus Venues avoid the user safety issues that have dragged down other platforms.

QP further produced a training program for the moderation team, and provided the hands-on training of the staff for the initial events.

We then supported the curation and promotion of a unique live music series that let fans put on their headsets and meet their friends and other fans at an immersive VR venue as they got exclusive access to live performances of new music and more.
